It’s been a whole year since my first restaurant post and I still love rounding up each month with all my fave places I ate in!
It is the time of the month again. September is officially here and boy has Autumn come so quickly! I’ve never seen such a quick turn around in the UK. It was like 31st August ended it, and with that so did Summer! As usual, I like to start the month off by rounding up some of the fantastic meals I had during the month!
August seems to be an ode to the poke bowl…
Maui Poke House
20A Gosfield Street, W1W 6HF
A really simple place, with just 4 ‘house bowls’ on the menu, 1 special and the opportunity to create your own. I went for the Shoyu Salmon and it really was great! Quite spenny, although what isn’t in London these days! But you did get a lot for your money. It was really tasty and I would highly recommend!
This place is well established in London and doesn’t disappoint! We went a bit crazy and had 2 bowls in a week from here – deliveroo is the devil :p. I created my own bowl both times as I fancied mixing it up!
Sushi rice, ahi tuna, shoyu dressing, burnt sweetcorn, edamame beans, avocado, wakame seaweed, pickled ginger, fresh chilli plus crispy onions (THE BEST INVENTION) and spring onions.
Sushi rice, ahi tuna, shoyu dressing, pineapple salsa, edamame beans, avocado, wakame seaweed, nori, pickled ginger, fresh chilli plus crispy onions and spring onions.
Both were great, although I think day 2 was the better of the two 😛
Randy’s Wing Bar
Unit 4, 28 East Bay Lane, Canal Side, Here East Estate, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, E15 2GW
This restaurant is one of our all time favourites and I know full well it has featured on here before. We often hit up Here East/Hackney Wick when it’s a gloriously sunny day and we have no plans. We are so fortunate enough to be able to walk all the way from our house to Here East along the canal in a couple of hours. At Here East you can sit on the grass by the canal and drink beer and it really is lovely! This time we went for the following:
Pure. Heaven. Sat outside in the sun!!
3 The Plaza, Denmark Street, Wokingham, RG40 2LD
The Giggling Squid is a fantastic Thai place all across the uk. We were lucky enough to have one open in Wokingham a year or so ago! It’s such simple Thai food, but so delicious and the service is really good!
We went for the sharing platter to start (grilled pork on skewers, salt and pepper squid, Thai chicken wings, vegetable spring rolls) and then I had the crying beef, marinated sirloin with some jasmine rice. It’s so unlike me to pick steak but I was really fancying it tonight! Others had the lamb shank massaman, a chicken Thai red curry and the giant butterfly king prawn pad Thai.
Wow all was heavenly! The starter in particular was divine! It was such a great choice!
We went for my mums birthday (although we didn’t tell them) and our lovely waitress overheard us so bought a special birthday pudding! It was such a special touch :).
The Ned – Sunday Feast/Kaia
27 Poultry, London, EC2R 8AJ
I had the random pleasure of going to The Ned twice in one week! Both occasions involved very different food and were equally amazing!
A-FREAKING-MAZIN. Is all you need to know about this dinner. £48 for ALL YOU CAN EAT for 2 HOURS including a glass of prosecco. I’m talking lobster, oysters, prawns, avocado toast, 10 types of salads, FULL Sunday roast (every meat imaginable), cheese board and so. many. types. of. puddings. A great vibe, excellent service and incredible food.
*Yes I had six courses ;).
This is a lovely Asian place hidden in The Ned. Again, awesome food and amazing service.
We shared the pork gyoza, JFC, miso soup, aubergine, tender stem broccoli, lamb cutlets, Hawaiian chicken & the black cod with some steamed rice. Holy bloody moly it was all incredible. Every bite was heaven. Pricey, but heaven!
What an awesome month of food I had! Give some of these places a try and let me know what you think :).
Love, A x
