This recipe originally comes from something I found on the Food Bible on Facebook. It is my go to if I fancy something fancy but not too much hard work or too unhealthy! We served this with steak but you could easily have this on its own or serve with absolutely anything else! Its sort of ‘chinesy’ in style.
2 red peppers, finely sliced
1 onion, finely sliced
1 tbsp sesame oil
1 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp white wine vinegar
Frozen chips (as many as you can hack)
1 clove garlic finely sliced
1 tsp Salt
1 tsp Sugar
1 tsp Paprika
1 tsp Chilli powder
1 tsp Chinese Five Spice
Lay the chips on to a baking tray and cook to packet instructions.
To a large frying pan, add the soy, sesame oil and white wine vinegar. Leave this to heat for 1-2 minutes.
Then add the onion and peppers and stir to coat in the sauce. Leave this cooking for about 5-8 minutes. You want it to get ‘sticky’. Then add the slices of garlic and stir in. Let this cook for a few minutes.
When the chips are cooked, stir them in. *If you’re a bit worried about timings, make the veg bit above first and leave at the side until the chips are ready. When they are, pop the pan back on a low heat to warm up and then add the chips.
Then add the salt, sugar, paprika, chilli powder and five spice and stir to coat.
Serve however you fancy we went crazy and had a cheeky steak, but you could eat these on their own!
